Slack

CHTL uses Slack to talk with each other. The Slack is open to all volunteers. Important channels include:

#operations - daily questions and issues running CHTL
#maintenance - notes on what's broken, and fixing it
#social - anything just for fun

..and lots more. Post to the most specific channel that matches your topic. Always be respectful, and move chats to a video call or real life chat if they get contentious.

Directory Of Private Channels

A few Slack channels have membership limited on their role and/or interest in the topic. These channels are:

  • #board-of-directors - A private channel for members of the Sustainable Capitol Hill board. Membership is limited to @board-members.
  • #email - All emails sent to contact@sustainablecapitolhill.org are forwarded to the #email Slack channel. This includes when folks fill out the Contact Form on our website. If you're a routine volunteer and want to take on monitoring and responding to email, ask to join in #operations.
  • #sensitive-discussions - A space for sensitive topics. It is intended only for discussions where privacy is necessary – please keep all other conversations in #operations. Membership is limited to @routine-volunteers and SCH/CHTL leadership.
